Students are encouraged to create a recording as they practice their Senior Project speeches. Wheeler Library staff will assist students with using Audacity to create an audio recording that will provide the following advantages:
- precisely check timing
- help detect a distracting habit
- catch a word that the student has difficulty pronouncing
- identify parts of the speech where the student gets confused
- work on improving transitions
Students may download Audacity for free if they would like to practice on their own at home. Instructions for Presentation Practice with Audacity and brief public speaking tips are linked from WheelerLibrary.com’s Senior Project forms and documents webpage, and include a link to the free download as well as some steps for using the software. Students who would like to video record as they practice for their presentation may also sign up for a time to use equipment in the library, and receive assistance from our staff on how to get started. To sign up for space and assistance to create an audio or video recording in the library go to WheelerLibrary.com/signup.
